Do not put off till tomorrow what you can test today
The importance of ensuring that apps work as expected is increasingly growing in a context where business is more and more software dependent. An online store that is not available for customers for hours can mean thousands of euros in lost revenue and a negative effect on reputation. The larger the number of applications a company has, which can be hundreds in a bank or insurance company, the greater the benefit of Quality Assurance services, says Miguel Freire, partner at askblue.

When an organization invests in digital transformation, how is it possible to maintain the existing structure so that it doesn’t compromise its activity?

While digital transformation initiatives are underway, the systems and applications that support the company’s business must be maintained. This maintenance involves many resources, including human resources, so Managed Services are a great alternative. Managing the life cycle of applications involves requirements and testing, for example. Then there is the aspect of application maintenance, which may involve corrections or evolutions of applications. The implementation of these processes can be done in local, remote, or hybrid models, with the service provided either turnkey or integrated into the client’s methodology. In the context of application maintenance, we also have Quality Assurance services, which are increasingly requested to ensure that changes resulting from this type of initiative reach the required quality level.

What are the advantages of Quality Assurance services?

They help to ensure that what was identified by the users of certain applications can be delivered, as well as maintain the existing functionalities with quality and improve the brand image for current and future customers. In other words, this enhances the reliability of the products and/or services offered, contributing to increasing the company’s confidence and finding new business opportunities.

Is it necessary to have an internal team fully dedicated to tests?

Depending on each company’s strategy, Quality Assurance services can be provided in the form of Managed Services, with minimum intervention from the company that hires the service; in the form of Capacity Services, where resources with different profiles are made available according to their increasing needs; or in the form of Test as a Service, where tests are focused on a critical functionality that is intended to be available in the application development life cycle.

Is it possible to anticipate problems with Quality Assurance Services?

No doubt about it. Currently, organizations need to innovate their products and services without compromising their quality, running the risk of damaging their brand image. By performing tests with a service, team, and specific tools focused on the solutions before they are made available, it is possible to identify flaws early and proactively. Additionally, the possibility of automating tests, performed without human intervention, allows application development teams to ensure, in time, that the changes made had no unexpected effects on the applications, without compromising the plan defined for their release. This avoids various inconveniences and, especially, the dissatisfaction of the consumer and end user. And we all know that a satisfied customer, passing the word, is the best marketing strategy.
